Few's Ford

Historic Site

Historic river crossing on the Eno — very shallow and flat, easy to cross. A popular spot with kids splashing in the summertime. Central junction point for trails heading to Cox Mountain (west) and Pump Station (east).

History

Named for William Few, who operated a mill on the east side of the river across the ford, circa 1758. The ford was part of a well-traveled road for centuries before European settlement, likely following a Native American trading path along the Fish Dam Road.
